The Acrylics USA plant in suburban Milwaukee , Wisconsin is a state-of the-art facility designed to produce acrylic sheets using the cell cast process. It is the newest acrylic cell cast facility in North America and incorporates 21st Century technology. When it came on-line in 2000 the plant immediately started to polymerize monomers for cell casting specialty acrylic sheets. Cell casting imparts superior and exclusive performance characteristics to cast acrylic sheets. At Acrylics USA the latest computer technology is used to monitor and control the entire polymerization and cell casting process to keep consistency high and costs low. The next newest cell casting plant in North America was designed and built in the early 1950’s.

The Acrylics USA facility has an industry wide reputation for consistency from order to order, from batch-to-batch, sheet-to-sheet and from point-to-point within each sheet. Sheets made by Acrylics USA more consistently thermoform and vacuum form, shrink ratios are consistent and repeatable from batch-to-batch. All Acrylics USA batch formulations are mixed in specially designed, jacketed tanks that are computer controlled, timed and monitored to insure consistent, repeatable pre-polymerization. Small batch sizes and the computer system insures that each batch of sheets match the profiles and specs your customers want. The Acrylics USA oven curing process is entirely computer controlled. Tens of thousands of lines of code control every second of each ovens heat/cool/air flow curing profile. Infinitely controlling each step by managing temperature, air flow and volume and the speed at which changes are effected means the desired characteristics are certain to be in the finished sheet. 6. Highest and longest UV transmission rate in industry (20,000+ hours!) means a longer life and lower costs

Acrylics USA’s ongoing transmission tests for UV light show conclusively that Acrylics USA sheets will continue to transmit UV light even after 15,000 hours of exposure. Customers have documented that sheets produced by Acrylics USA in 2000 are still transmitting a high level of UV light and are not yellowed or aged -- over 20,000 hours and still going strong! No other manufacturer can produce results close to this! (Most other acrylic sheets start to loose their ability to transmit UV light in about 3,000 hours.) Acrylics USA ’s formulations and specialized computer controlled polymerization processes enable Acrylics USA to maintain and repeat this level of performance.

7. Higher impact resistance, greater strength for a longer life lowers costs
Side by side impact resistance tests with 2 lb. steel balls demonstrate that Acrylics USA’s sheets withstand impact forces almost three times greater than other acrylic sheets. Damage to Acrylics USA’s sheets did not occur until steel balls were dropped from a height at least 40% greater than that at which competitors sheets broke – the difference duplicates a force that is almost three times higher!

8. Reduced brittleness of Acrylics USA sheets insure a longer, more elastic, weather-able life

The exclusive Acrylics USA processes and formulations insure that sheets remain stable and retain their elastomer/ductile properties longer than other manufacturers sheets. The major reason for this advantage is that Acrylics USA’s processes and formulations do not leave a high level of residual monomer in our sheets. Our process insures that our acrylic sheet is more completely polymerized than competitive sheets. More complete polymerization insures that the sheet will not become brittle over time. Because of the shortcomings of their formulations and/or their polymerization process, other manufacturers raise the level of residual monomer so the sheet is not brittle when brand new. The higher level of residual monomer quickly sublimates out (evaporates) of the sheet -- especially when exposed to UV light. This causes their sheets to prematurely yellow, crack and become brittle as compared to Acrylics USA’s sheets. Acrylics USA ’s sheet will remain more stable and have higher elastomer level, even under harsh weather conditions and when exposed to extended periods of UV light.

Note: Acrylics USA ’s residual monomer levels are less than .2%.

9. Multiple ovens insure that each batch of sheet matches a dedicated curing profile to meet performance specifications.

Most cell cast manufacturers combine batches and racks and cure them together in a master oven or bath. Acrylics USA has multiple ovens so that each batch, or rack of cells, has an oven dedicated to it’s curing process with it’s own heating/cooling (curing) profile. This means that as sheets go through the curing process the heating/cooling temperature, timing and rates match the desire performance specifications for those sheets -- not a heating/ cooling profile for the benefit and efficiency of the cell caster. Another reason why acrylic sheets from Acrylics USA perform better and ultimately cost less.

13. Proprietary cell cast tension control system assures a consistent thickness throughout each sheet which improves “formability & workability”.

Acrylics USA uses numerous controls and proprietary systems to guarantee an even thickness around and throughout each acrylic sheet – one of them is a unique clamp pressure system. This is a system that has been specifically designed for Acrylics USA. Each clamp is pre-set to the proper tension to match the thickness gauge of each sheet. 17. Each sheet thoroughly inspected

Acrylics USA has a hand visual inspection station positioned before sheets are double sided masked. At this final inspection point lights with special bulbs maintain a critical angle to the acrylic sheet. This strategic angle and light is used so that any possible flaws are magnified and will be seen.

Our method of cell casting insures more consistent thickness from sheet-to-sheet, order-to-order and within each sheet vs. the method other cell casters use.

We offer the longest lasting UV light transmission rate in the industry. We have customer who have documented that shields made from our sheets are still going strong after 20,000 hours. Our sheets do not yellow or deteriorate.

In actual weighted ball, side-by-side drop tests our sheet demonstrated that they can withstand impacts from 40% greater heights and heavier weights than other manufacturer cell cast acrylic sheets. We have demonstrated that our sheets have greater impact strength.
